Barbie is haunting me
January 26th, 2006You know, I wasn’t all that big into Barbie when I was a kid. In fact, I preferred altering my Barbie dolls to actually playing with them. After I cut, spiked and “dyed” her hair and stuck a safety pin through her nose, I had the first Punk Rock Barbie. My friends were disturbed by this.
I had Barbies for as long as I did because it was just about the only thing that *all* my girlfriends had in common. I would have always preferred playing with GI Joe or He-Man, but girls didn’t so much like that, so Barbie it was.
I adored that site I posted about earlier in the week. I would buy that Busted Heart Pendant and I would wear it. I figured that would be the end of the Barbie-themed stuff for the week, hell for the year! I was actually wrong.
I was surfing around yesterday when I found Barbie Adventures. It appeals to me for a number of reasons. I like the comic format. I have always liked when people make comics from toys (I think this stems from when I used to read Toy Fare pretty regularly). This is just sick and twisted.
It’s pretty complete as it is, but it leaves me wanting more. I hope that Barbie will continue to share her adventures. In the meantime, it’s good for a laugh.
