I was thinking about it
April 25th, 2006I was thinking about writing about how stupid you feel when you spell your own name wrong… and how much worse it is when you don’t even realize it until the spell checker catches it
I was thinking about writing about the 2:1 awake to sleep ratio and, if that’s really what’s healthy, I need a longer day. 30 hours seems about right. Up for 20, asleep for 10. That sounds good to me.
I was thinking about writing about the conversation that I had with my son and my brother about what happens after you die and what theories we’ve heard and what makes sense and what doesn’t.
I was thinking about writing about how every parent does something that other parents think is atrocious and that oftentimes the worst offenders are the most vocal about the things that they, personally, disagree with.
I was thinking about writing about the couple of days work I’ll be doing next week, how serendipitous it was that it found me, how cool it is that they want me to head the site and how I can use this to further my job search.
And then I realized that I didn’t have enough to say on any one of the given topics. So I didn’t actually write about any of them.
Tell us more about the work. Head what sort of site? A website?

There’s not all that much to tell. It’s an XP migration at a site in Colonie. It should take about 2-3 days and they want me to head up the site and coordinate things. Basically, it means that in addition to working on the migration, I also have to fill out paperwork

In the world of Myst, they had 30 hour days. Of course, their civilization was a mile underground…
This is actually a subject that I’ve given a speech on. Yes, having 30 hour days are great in theory. However, let’s break it down. If you had thirty hour days, you would spend ten of it sleeping, ten would be at home, and the other ten would be at work.
Think of all the chores and projects you have going right now. With a few extra hours each day, you would pick up more and more of those little projects.
The work life would completely change too! People would be given a lot more responsibilities because they would have more time on their hands. Those that are paid on an hourly basis would be paid more, yes, but price of every day living would skyrocket!!
See, FG, we should instead campaign to have 16 hour days.
(For the record, I’m still pissed about my stolen orange. I was totally looking forward to having a citrus moment!)

Uh… Ed? I don’t know that there’s any more *to* the name thing… I suppose I could rephrase, but that would just be redundant

I think you should go into deep detail about all the name spelling problems, if you do, maybe I will tell you about how I walk into walls and fall down……regularly.
