The days of hops and goddesses
February 15th, 2006I’m pretty proud of this article I wrote for BeerBloggers.com. The amusing part is that I didn’t drink beer while I wrote it (which I usually do with my reviews there). Instead a drank a blueberry mead that I picked up earlier this evening.
*shrug*
Go figure.

How is mead? I’ve heard from some it cuks, and from others that it’s delicious. I am curious cos I like the idea of Honey flavored anything. I’m not a big wine drinker though, so tell me oh mighty one is Mead everything I hope it is??

I think mead is wonderful, but it’s one of those tastes that not everyone shares. Mead is a honey wine, so it tends to be sweeter than most other wines.
Ask in a local wine store and try to get something basic. Red the label carefully, though, do NOT get honey flavored wine… that’s just… well, don’t do it. Trust me.
In a good wine store you’ll find a lot of different flavors like various berries or peach, but for your first taste, I strongly recommend just a plain ordinary mead. Chaucer’s makes a decent one that’s pretty easy to find, lately I’ve been leaning toward Martin’s Traditional Semi-Sweet honey wine.
And then let me know what you thought of it
